Skills

My greatest strengths are hand-coded XHTML and CSS. Currently, my preferred development environment is a text editor, PhotoShop and browsers for testing. I'm experienced with Macromedia's Studio MX, Allaire's HomeSite and TopStyle, and Microsoft's FrontPage. But, for all-in-one rapid development only the most recent version of Dreamweaver offers decent support for web sites using CSS for layout and presentation, so I opt for a more hands-on approach.

XHTML 1.1

I'm experienced in writing valid XHTML code, free of depreciated, presentational tags and tabular layout. I understand the specifications and proper use of XHTML as the current standard for web page coding.

CSS 1 & 2

I'm always honing my skills at coding hack-free, cross-browser cascading style sheets (CSS). I design web sites which rely on CSS for all aspects of presentation and graphic design including: layout, positioning, color scheme, backgrounds, fonts, and more.

Digital imaging and optimization

I completed courses on PhotoShop 7.0 and developed general digital imaging skills as well as image slicing, and optimization for the web. I can deliver final images in digital and print formats. I'm also a NAPP member.

JavaScript

I learned OOP and JavaScript while earning my Web Technician certificate. I'm also very familiar with the resources available for working with JavaScript. Now, I'm trying to get up to speed with ECMAScript 262 (standard JavaScript).

PHP

I'm currently learning about the versatility of PHP. I like it because it's fast, cost effective, open-source and everywhere.

Windows OS

I've worked in the Windows OS environment for many years and am experienced with Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, and XP.

Mac OS

I don't spend much time working in the Mac environment, but am familiar with OS X and how the Mac OS differs from Windows. I look forward to opportunities to spend more time actually working on the Mac.
